NPO多言語多読の講座卒業生が中心になって、
NPOの講座には参加していないけれどTadokuしている人も入って、
毎月第2日曜日に「たどくらぶ」が開かれています。

その最近の集まりで takkoさんがブックトークを披露してくれました。
それがわたしには大変なヒントになったので・・・
Mother Halverson’s New Cat という絵本のブックトークですから、

絵を見ずにtakkoさんの英文だけ読むには少々長いと思います。
そこでわたしがもらった大ヒントについてまず書いて、
そのあとに引用しましょう。
takkoさんの書いた英文を読むと、「借りる・盗む・真似する」を
ずいぶんちゃんと実行していることが分かります。
（原文は見ていませんが、分かります！）
たとえば最初の1ページはこんな風ですが、
Mother Halverson wasn’t so hard hearted
that she cried for her cat.
But she was a practical woman.
二つの文はどちらも「借りる・盗む・真似する」そのものですね。
ほかにもtakkoさんが借りたか、盗んだか、真似したと思われる文は
このブックトークの原稿にたくさん出てきます。
下に引用する全文の中では下線を引いておくことにします。
で、大ヒントをもらったのはこういうことです。
＊bitesizeで書けるようになってから、「借りる・盗む・真似する」のではなく、
最初から（takkoさんのように）「借りる・盗む・真似する」でいいのだ！
どこかで観たか・聞いたか・読んだかしたことばをそのまま使えば
bitesizeに決まっているのですね、自然なことばというものは。
だから、わたしが Bitesize Writing のフォーラムを始めたときから
takkoさんの文章を見るまでずっと考えていたのは間違いだった！
間違いは言い過ぎだとしたら、遠回りだった。
をさなごは生まれたときから、観たり、聞いたりしたことばを
「借りる・盗む・真似する」しているのだから、
わたしたちも最初から「借りる・盗む・真似する」を実行すればいい！
うーん、長くなりすぎたかな？
わたし自身の覚え書きとしては十分な長さなので、ここでやめます。
ただ、takkoさんの原文は、「takkoさんの bitesize」と言うには少々長めです。
いや、「借りる・盗む・真似する」で書いた英文なのだから、原作者の bitesize なのです。
でも、おそらくtakkoさんが朗読したらつっかえてリズムよく読めない長さの
文がかなりありそうです。
takkoさん自身が言っていますが、bitesize で書けたら
さらに聞きやすく、読みやすくなったでしょうね。
たどくらぶでms.mikanさんとこの英文を検討すると突破口が見つかるかも？

Very particular for her pantry,

Why?
That very evening she heard mice scurrying.
She was very worried.

Early the next morning,
Farmer Halverson, being a sensible man, went to the barn.And poured some cream into the pan.

She was scratching and pushing others away.
Surely a mean cat would make a good mouser.

“This cat will never make a good mouser!
She is so mean that she’s scratched me twice already.

Farmer Halverson, being so sensible man,
agreed with her and go to the barn.＊＊＊＊＊
This time, he chose the large black cat.
She stood in the pan and lapped furiously.
Surely a big cat would make a good mouser.＊＊＊＊＊
“Here you are, my dear! Your worries are at an end!”
The next morning, however, she was still worried.
“This cat will never make a good mouser!
She is so fat that she can hardly move.
Back this flabby cat to the barn and bring in a better one.”＊＊＊＊＊
Farmer Halverson, being so sensible man, agreed with her and go to the barn.

This time, he chose the yellow cat.
She was howled and yowled to frighten the others away.
Surely a noisy cat would make a good mouser.＊＊＊＊＊
“Here you are, my dear! Your worries are at an end!”

The next morning, however, she was still worried.
“This cat will never make a good mouser!
She is so noisy that the mice all know when she’s near.
Besides that, I can’t get a moment’s peace.
Back this blabby cat to the barn and bring in a better one.”＊＊＊＊＊
Farmer Halverson, being so sensible man, agreed with her and go to the barn.

He noticed that the only remaining cat.
She was a shy tabby, who waited patiently until his chance came.＊＊＊＊＊
Surely a timid cat would never make a good mouser.
But there are no choice without her.
“Here you are, my dear!
I’m sorry, but she’s the last of the lot!”＊＊＊＊＊
The next morning, however, she was very happy.
She was smiling from ear to ear.＊＊＊＊＊
“This cat will make a wonderful mouser!
She’s so quiet and quick and patient.
The mice don’t stand a chance.
I’ve named her Abby.”＊＊＊＊＊
Farmer Halverson, being a sensible man, agreed her decision, and very relieved.

And so it came to be that,
while Crabby and Flabby and Blabby fought out days in the old barn,
…sweet, shy, little Abby lay by the fire, warm and content after a job well done.
あらら、よくよく見ていったら、ほとんど全部「借りる・盗む・真似する」でしたね！
すばらしい！

さて、そういうわけで、 Bitesize Writing の最後の課題は・・・
