Bitesize Writing が広がってきました。
サンプルを送ってくれる人も少しずつ増えていますが、
bitesize の大きさも、書く内容も広がってきました。
これから紹介する「ある人」の Book Summary は Bitesize＝1 から 8 まで！
これは英国で200年前に書かれた Pride and Prejudice の summary です。最後にわたしの感想を書きます。
1．Friends
Mr. Bingley
He was good-looking, gentleman like.
He was very rich.
Mr. Darcy
He was tall, handsome but very proud.
He was richer than Mr. Bingley.
They were friends.2. Sisters
The eldest daughter, Jane
She was beautiful, elegant and quiet.
The second daughter, Elizabeth.
She was pretty, intelligent and full of wit.3. Dance
At a ball, Mr. Bingley danced with Jane twice.
They admired each other.4. Mean
Mr. Darcy said coldly.
“Elizabeth is not pretty enough to interest me.”
Elizabeth heard him, sitting just behind him.
He was mean to her.5. Sick
Jane was invited by the Bingley’s.
Jane got sick there.6. Muddy
Elizabeth was very worried about her.
She walked to Mr. Bingley’s house.
Weather was horrible.
Her dress became muddy.7. Yes?
Mr. Darcy changed his mind.
He liked her very much.
He proposed to Elizabeth.
He asked her “Yes?”8. No!
She had prejudice against him.
She said, “No!”9. Write
Mr. Darcy sent a letter to Elizabeth.
He wrote the truth.10. Read
Elizabeth read his letter.
She learned the truth.11. Walk
Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth walked on.
They talked a lot.
She said she was very sorry.
His letter removed all her prejudice against him.
His great love for her removed his pride.
She accepted his proposal.12. Marry
They got married.
見事なものですね！
よく考えてある・・・ いや、すごい・・・
これだけ考えて、これだけリズムよく書けたら、
日本人の書く英語も英語人の書く英語に一歩近づいたと言えると思います。
ものすごーっく褒めてるみたいですが、褒めてるのです。
Bitesize Writing のガイドラインとして、
「時間をかけないこと」がありましたが、いつまでも何も考えずに書いていたら、論理的な、おとなの文章にはならないでしょう。その点、このsummaryは「考えて、方針が決まったらbitesizeでリズムよく書く」という一見矛盾した方向をきれいに両立させていると思います。
Bitesize Writing を越えて、essay writing の方向が見えてきましたね。
おっとっと・・・ いきなり「よく考えて、さっと書く」を目指さないでくださいね。「ある人」は Bitesize Writing と「借りる・盗む・真似する」をずいぶんした人なのです。だからこんな風に花開いたのではないかな？ 知らんけど。
ほかにもいっぱい感想があるけれど、それは少しずつ足していくことにしましょう。（あるいはわざと足さないかも？）
うーん・・・ いい方向だ・・・
