お久しぶりです。たんぽぽのわたげです。
「夏のはなほースペシャル」以来ですね。
今日のバナナボートの話題、
先生がせっかく放置されようとしてるのに、食いついてごめんなさい（＾＾；

いえいえ、放置しようとなんてしていませんよ。
こういうネタもいいもんです。ただみんなでガヤガヤとね・・・

Whiskersさんの書かれていた

デライカンマンミワンゴーホ
と覚えていたのが、
Daylight come, me wanna go home

だったというくだりで、
「アン」がどこにあたるんだろう（come,と me　の間に「ン」って音入らないなぁ）
なんて漫然と思ってしまい
なにげなく検索かけてみたら、歌詞が出てきました。

おぉ～！！　これならいけるー（＾＾）
（「ミ」が、「ヒ」になっちゃうけど、「ン」が解決した方がすっきりしました）

そういえばたしかに「ン」が抜けていましたね。
意味もわからずに繰り返しているだけに、どの音も気になる。わかります。

あ、すみません、Whiskersさんの感動はすてきだと思います！！

Banana Boat Songは、ジャマイカの民謡の労働歌だそうですね。

Daylight come and he wan' go homeと繰り返されるところは、
「もうじき日が昇る。オイラはつらい仕事を終えて家に帰りたいんだ。」
で、
「tally man（伝票をつける人）さん、バナナを数えてくれ…」
ということなんですって。

 驚きましたね！　歌詞も曲もハリー・ベラフォンテ？
元は労働歌ですよね？　いかにもそういう歌だと思います。
この歌が自然にコーラスになって、カリブの島の港に響いている・・・
わたしはそういう想像をしておりました。歌詞も曲も作り人不明の方が合っている・・・

歌詞もあるようですね。 he　という歌詞と、me　という歌詞が両方あるらしい・・・

ここも　帰りたがっているのは　he　と　me ( I ) と、両方の歌詞があるらしい。

 で、ここもおもしろいんですね。
この歌詞では　Six foot, seven foot, eight foot となっていて、
いかにもいろいろな長さのバナナの房を船に運び込んでいる様子です。

という繰り返しがバックで歌われるところが労働歌風で、
みんなで仕事している雰囲気です。

ところが、セサミ・ストリート版ではハリー・ベラフォンテは

　　　　six hand, seven hand, eight hand bunch

と歌っているんです。つまり　foot　と　hand　の違いもおもしろいのですが、
foot　の方は長さなんでしょうが、hand　の方は房の「段」のことじゃないで
しょうか？一房を「手」と見立てて、6段の房、7段の房、8段の房？

どうなんでしょうね？　根拠は何にもないです、念のため・・・
第一、Beetle Juice　のお馬鹿な場面も歌はハリー・ベラフォンテだと思われますが

と歌っている！　バナナの房の数え方（？）は手なのか、足なのか？
